Paques was good

Easter was good. We dyed and pocked eggs, visited with family, ate good and experienced weird weather. It sleeted Saturday night. That was strange. Anyway, Mr. Dowell’s yard eggs proved to be champions and I defeated all my family’s pathetic store bought ones. I did a few “Christ has risen” sayings when I won -- I was feeling sympathetic to my foes -- but was answered with “you punk!” when I busted my opponent’s egg. Mais, here I am trying to keep things in perspective and I get called a punk. Man, and it was Easter.

I had a great time and enjoyed visiting. I learned about a new version of Mardi Gras – kids would hide because the Mardi Gras would catch them with sticks. I saw that version briefly in Dance for a Chicken but never heard about it from someone. They had banned it briefly because some teenagers were posing as the Mardi Gras and beating kids up. I also heard about ‘tite Homme Janvier, comparing him to our Madame Grand Doigt. That was interesting too. We’re a well rounded Cajun family if we got both of them folk characters representing.

Now things are back to normal. It’s time to go back to work and all that. I’m also trying to figure out how to place more links on my blog. I want to add
Maw Maw and Dem's blog and
Mostly Cajun.

They’re both good reads and written by Cajuns. I tried to add before but it seems I’ve run out of room. But I’ve looked at other blogs and some have a bunch of links: websites and blogs. I’m sure there is a way. I’ll figure it out.
