I had a good time at Mardell's reunion yesterday. I needed it too because I was burnt out from
learning my new route in Eunice. The
only thing on my mind for several days was Eunice and learning the routine and
new people and I wanted no distractions. I had started tweaking my blog but then left
it bare until I got that under control. Bunch of people showed up Saturday at the
Yambilee building and I met some that I had talked with through the
Internet. You can find more information
and pictures on Facebook but I don’t know the link for it because I still
refuse to get on that. I even abandoned
Google Plus, save for contact purposes, because I don’t care for social network
sites. I tried it but it never did
appeal to me. Anyway, the reunion went
well and I hope it started something for the future. I’ll try to take a picture of the T-shirt I
got with the cool fleur-de-lis symbol on it and post it. I also bought one for my Dad. Thank you Mardell for the shirt! I was hoping to see some other like-minded
people there but that’s OK. They have
their reasons I guess and it’s still all good.
I enjoyed a conversation I had with Father Vidrine and I like how he commented
that Evangeline Parish simply live their culture without showing it off through
tourism, etc like Lafayette does. But I
still think it would be great if there were children’s books about Fort
Toulouse, etc and some sort of museum showcasing the history of the area. That wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. I’m hoping Mardell’s reunion and John LaFleur’s
books soon available will start something in our areas in the
Creole north.
