Bonjour, comment ca va? The Baton Rouge Advocate’s magazine published an article in October mentioning a new genealogical collection: Avoyelles Connections. The collection is 8 volumes with an average of 300 pages in each volume. You can spend a lot of time looking at all that. It was compiled by Harry J. Moreau. He donated the volumes to several libraries around Louisiana. The work has no index mais ca c’est bon parce que it’s organized alphabetically by name. It’s a major genealogical work and many people avec Avoyelles “connections” will find useful info in it.
Now the article did mention that the Rapides Parish Library received the volumes but that’s not true. Close but not at the public library. You’ll drive up there and waste your time getting down. You can, however, walk next door to the Alexandria Genealogical library because they do have them. The Evangeline Parish library may get them one day but as of now I don’t believe they received copies. Here are the libraries who supposedly received the volumes: East Baton Rouge Parish Genealogy Library; LSU Hill Library Memorial Special Collections; State Library; Louisiana State Archives; Avoyelles Parish Library; and the St. Landry Parish Library. Again, the article was published in October so more libraries may have them now.
