Prairie Creole Music

I've been reading two books: Barry Jean Ancelet’s Cajun and Creole music makers/Musiciens cadiens et creoles and Accordions, Fiddles, Two Step, and Swing: A Cajun Music Reader by Ryan Brasseaux and Kevin Fontenot. They both contain a wealth of information on Cajun and Creole music. There it is: Cajun and Creole music or just say white Louisiana French music and black Louisiana French music. Many of the famous musicians came/are from Creole country but the whites are called Cajuns. Even Eduis Naquin, with obvious Acadian roots, learned a lot of his music from his Mom, a white Creole. His Dad came from Acadian/Cajun country but he married a white Creole woman from the north. That's what I've been told. But I'm sure this is looked over and his ballads are called Louisiana Acadian music. Once again it seems that white prairie Creole history and culture is redefined as Cajun/Acadian. Cajun and Creole, it's as "simple" as white and black.
