I looked on John LaFleur’s Courtableau House site and one of
the questions asked was if the courir de Mardi Gras created or started by the
prairie Creoles or the prairie Cajuns.
That’s a good question being that Mardi Gras is here. I plan on going to Church Point tomorrow to
have some sort of Mardi Gras. The riders
come in around 2. I wonder if a long
time ago a Fontenot from Evangeline Parish went visit down south and saw
something fantastic. Brought the idea
back to Mamou and they started doing the same thing. Or maybe a Broussard from Church Point went
to Mamou and brought the idea back home.
Or what if it was a French thing and both people knew about the
celebration.
