I often see a chevreuil or two in the morning on my way to
work. I see them on the side of the road
all the way past Clearwater. I had to slam
on my brakes once because a chevreuil ran in front of my car. I had horned at it but instead of running the
opposite way it bolted across the road.
That woke me up more than the little energy shot I had for
breakfast. I saw one walking around in the
middle of Turkey Creek. You never see
them during the day but they’re all over the place in the morning. Take a look at LSU’s Cajun site. They have a recording of the word and it
sounds the same as Mom and Dad saying it.
I can’t eat a bouillie.
The different meats in it makes it a lively taste. I can be enjoying the food one second and the
next bite will make me want to throw up.
But I think Mom and them call a regular soup a bouillie too. It doesn’t need to have all the weird meats
in it to be a bouillie. I’m not sure and
I’ll have to ask. The LSU site has
BOOYEE as the pronunciation but I always thought it sounded like BOO –EE without
the Y.
