goujon and barbue

It’s Friday so when I went to the Y I ate a goujon dinner with wedges and a Coke.  Goujon is the basic yellow one and barbue is the blue one.  A goujon caille is the spotted one.  I asked about the words and I had to go to Daigle’s dictionary for these spellings.  LSU only had barbue.  It wasn’t too terrible of a day.  I saw another chevreuil this morning.  But this time I was in the truck going to Ville Platte and it was daylight.  I was just into Clearwater that it showed up in the middle of the road.  I did a quick stab brake but it ran across pretty quick.  The poor thing even slipped as it started to run.  My co-worker asked if we had killed it could we have kept it.  I doubt it but it would have been nice to throw it in the truck, drop it off at T-Boy’s in Mamou, and have it all cut up and ready for us when we finished the route.  But that’s just a dream I’m sure.  I wonder why so many chevreuil are active lately.  They must be running out of food or something and wandering around more.  Whatever the case may be, slow it down when passing Pine Prairie all the way past Clearwater in the bon matin or at night.
