It sounds like HON-TAHN. I'm not good at writing what I think it sounds like. It's the Cajun word for June bug. I asked what the word was and Daigle's dictionary had the spelling. A lot of hannetons smash into my truck windshield on my way to Ville Platte in the morning. They're flying around the area on 167 between Chicot and the Platin road. I thought at first it was birds with bad stomach problems. But it's hannetons smashing themselves on all sides of the truck. My stupid air conditioner still doesn't work but I'm afraid to leave the windows down in case one of them fly into my face. I need to wash them off every day because eventually they cover the windshield. The wipers help a little but if too many crash on the truck the wipers simply smear them making me completely blind. It's another one of those things that happen during certain times of the year.
I was productive today. I slept a lot. I was burnout from working two weeks straight. But I did go to the library and take several tests needed for work. I plan on going tomorrow again and finishing up. Since I'll be in Alexandria I'll try to see that movie Wrath of the Titans. A good relaxing weekend is what I need before another rough week. We're off Good Friday. And it'll be a long good weekend for Easter. Pocking eggs and chocolate and a lot of beer. I heard of another expression for pocking and that was boxing eggs. It was some Avoyelles people and I guess that's another saying for it, but pocking is still the most common saying even for the Avoyelles people.
