Creole country road trip

I drove around Avoyelles Parish with my youngest brother.  I wanted to see something different but the parish looks similar. But Cottonport was beautiful and had different scenes.  We drove along Bayou Rouge and looked at the nice homes and scenery.  They have a museum but it was closed.  I did see a lot of “Cajun” named businesses and that reminded me of our area.  What will be the consequences of calling a business, such as a restaurant or meat store, Cajun?  Well, younger people will look Cajun up online and see nothing but references to Nova Scotia and Acadians.  And young Luneau, Juneau, Lemoine, Rabalais, Gagnard, Bordelon, etc will grow up believing their ancestors and culture came from Acadie, much like all the Vidrine, Fontenot, Soileau, La Fleur kids in Evangeline.  Maybe it won’t happen.  Anyway, I enjoyed Mansura too.  I like to believe it’s a true story how ex-Napoleon soldiers settled the area and named it Mansura because it reminded them of their time in Egypt.  I wonder what the real story is and how those people thought long ago.
