Getting Married in the Gazette

I like looking at marriage announcements in the Ville Platte Gazette.  A fun project for a sociology type or historian would be to spend time at a library and look through the Gazette on microfilm going back several years and see the families getting married.  You’ll see the same names going way, way back.

This a list of people that obtained marriage licenses published in the Thursday, February 21, 2013 Ville Platte Gazette.  I’ll list only the surnames but the information should be on the paper’s site.  I’ll bold the names I find particularly interesting but I’m probably related to all of them going back.

Ortego and Fontenot
Celestine and Thomas
Alleyne and Rideaux
Mier and Deshotel
Brignac and Fruge
Augustine and Rollins
Guillory and Vizinat
Reed and Fields
Griffen and Fontenot
Holden and Mayer
Prudhomme and Toussaint
Bordelon and Vidrine
Manuel and Duplechin
